Sound START Birth-Three Program

This program provides statewide comprehensive, unbiased services and resources for children ages birth-three who are deaf and hard of hearing and their families. Our goal is to work closely with the tiny-k (infant-toddler) networks in the state of Kansas to provide quality services to these families. These services may range from direct contact with the child and the family to providing technical assistance to the service providers directly involved with the child and family. Each family is unique and the services needed are individualized according to each family’s priorities. The staff believes in providing services that are evidence-based and family-centered.

Services provided include:
  • Home Visits
  • Consultations
  • Attending Audiology Appointments
  • Hearing Aid Loaner Bank
  • Family sign language classes
  • Support with the transition to preschool
  • Resources and technical assistance for families and service providers
