Dear Parents, Guardians, and Students,
As many of you already know, the State Facilities Closure and Realignment Commission recommended to the Governor that KSSD and KSSB "find efficiencies" and reduce costs to the State. This will be done through shared services--just as we have been doing in Dietary (Cathy Grote works here and at the School for the Blind). The Commissioner of Education appointed me as Superintendent over both schools, since Bob Maile has retired.
Rest assured that Luanne Barron, now Assistant Superintendent, and I have and will be working together closely to insure that your child receives the best education possible, individualized to meet his/her needs. My reduction philosophy is that no matter how large the reductions in our budget, we will always try to reduce areas that have the least impact on our students.
I have had the pleasure of meeting some of you already, and look forward to seeing you at enrollment. Enclosed you will find enrollment materials to be read, completed and returned on:
Sunday, August 15
9:00am - 3:00pm
Emery Center
(Elementary School)
Lunch will be served to families, staff and students, in the KSD Dining Room from 11:00am to 1:00pm.
Enrollment is the one day each year we request that all parents accompany their sons and daughters to school.
This provides us with an opportunity to verify the correctness of information and discuss special situations, while providing you with an opportunity to meet the teachers and other personnel who will be working with your child throughout the year.
If you have any questions regarding enrollment, or any of the materials in this packet, please contact:
